This was a preview of the full novel, containing the first nine chapters. The introduction to the novel was fantastic. The attention Schwab pays to detail really helped to set the mood for the rest of the book. Throughout the story, Mackenzie often has flashbacks of her training with Da and moments with Ben. Instead of making the narrative feel disjointed and confusing, these flashbacks solidify the reader's understanding of Mac and help to provide vital information to the story without feeling like an info-dump. I love the snarkiness and charm Wesley adds to the story and although the ending to the preview felt very predictable, I am very excited to get my hands on the final copy of this book and find out what happens next.
